Measuring Cyber Risk – Project Summary

Identifying and addressing uncertainties in the UK’s cyber risk landscape

Miles Elsden (ECS Ltd and UCL)

This CRUISSE Pilot project aims to support the the UK Cabinet Office in looking at whether the current national policy response for managing the risk of cyber-attacks within the UK is appropriate. It will attempt to help answer the question “What does the cyber risk landscape of the UK look like, how is it evolving and what are the best risk management approaches?

The project will help to characterise the dynamic uncertainties inherent in cyber risk projections and management, and explore adaptive policy strategies that might help the UK manage the rapidly evolving cyber risk landscape. It is hoped that learning from this pilot project will be relevant to other domains that face similar challenges of rapid technological change.
